Whether you’re an avid hiker or just looking for a leisurely stroll through nature, Leavenworth offers a variety of accessible trails that promise breathtaking scenery and a connection to the great outdoors. Here are some of my favorite trails in the area (in alphabetical order) that are perfect for nature lovers at all levels.

Apple Capital Recreation Loop Trail
A gem in Wenatchee, the Apple Capital Recreation Loop Trail is a 10-mile paved path that meanders along the Columbia River. This trail is ideal for walkers, joggers, and cyclists of all ages and skill levels. With multiple access points and several parks along the way, it’s easy to hop on and off the trail. The lush riverside scenery, blooming wildflowers, and well-maintained paths make this a favorite for locals and visitors alike. Don’t miss the pedestrian bridge that offers stunning views of the river and surrounding mountains.

Chihuly Trail
For a unique blend of art and nature, the Chihuly Trail at Sleeping Lady Mountain Resort showcases the glass artwork of renowned artist Dale Chihuly. This easy, short trail winds through the resort grounds, offering glimpses of intricate glass sculptures that harmonize beautifully with the natural environment. It’s a tranquil, inspiring walk that art enthusiasts and nature lovers will both appreciate as there are art sculptures dotted throughout. Be sure and pick.

Deception Falls
Located along Highway 2, on your way to SeaTac, jump off at Deception Falls (pictured at left). It is a quick and rewarding stop. The short, easy loop trail takes you through old-growth forest to a series of stunning waterfalls. The sound of rushing water and the cool mist from the falls create a serene atmosphere perfect for a family outing or a peaceful retreat into nature. The trail is well-marked and offers educational signs about the local flora and fauna.

Icicle Gorge Nature Loop
One of the most popular trails in the Leavenworth area, and my favorite to suggest, is the Icicle Gorge Nature Loop (pictured at right). It is a 4.3-mile trail that offers diverse scenery, including dense forests, open meadows, and river views. The trail is relatively flat and well-maintained, making it accessible for most hikers. Interpretive signs along the way provide interesting information about the area’s geology, plants, and wildlife. This loop is a great choice for those who want a moderate hike with plenty of photo opportunities.

Ohme Gardens
Ohme Gardens, located in Wenatchee, is a stunning alpine garden that offers a unique hiking experience. The gardens feature winding stone paths, tranquil pools, and panoramic views of the Columbia River and Cascade Mountains. Herman Ohme and his bride created pathways and borders from native stone that they hauled from the Columbia River and transplanted evergreens from the Cascade Mountains and that craggy, dry, desolate, rock-strewn bluff became a place of discovery to take in those breathtaking views. While not a traditional hiking trail, the paths through Ohme Gardens are a delightful way to spend an afternoon immersed in beautifully curated natural landscapes.

Peshastin Mill Trail
A lesser-known gem, the Peshastin Mill Trail is a short, easy hike that provides a glimpse into the area’s industrial history while showcasing beautiful river views. The trail follows the Wenatchee River and passes through remnants of the old mill, with interpretive signs explaining the site’s historical significance. It’s a peaceful walk that’s perfect for history buffs and nature enthusiasts alike.

Tumwater Pipeline TrailPeshastin Pinnacles
For those looking for a bit more adventure without a strenuous climb, Peshastin Pinnacles State Park offers several short trails that lead to incredible rock formations and panoramic views of the surrounding orchards and mountains. The trails vary in difficulty, but many are accessible to hikers of all levels. The unique geological features and sweeping vistas make this a must-visit for anyone in the area.

Tumwater Pipeline Trail
The Tumwater Pipeline Trail (pictured at left) is a fascinating hike that follows an old pipeline route along the Wenatchee River. The trail is relatively flat and offers stunning views of the river and surrounding cliffs. It’s an excellent choice for a leisurely hike with plenty of opportunities to spot wildlife and enjoy the area’s natural beauty. The trailhead is conveniently located just a short drive from downtown Leavenworth, making it an easy addition to any itinerary.

Leavenworth and its surrounding areas offer a wealth of accessible hiking trails that cater to nature lovers of all levels. From riverside walks and art-infused paths to historical trails and garden strolls, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. So, lace up your hiking boots, grab your camera, and set out to explore the stunning scenery that makes Leavenworth a true outdoor paradise.
