Traveling to Leavenworth in the Summer? Protect Those Paws!
Leavenworth summers are beautiful — sunny skies, warm evenings, and plenty of outdoor adventures.
But that sunshine can create a hidden challenge for dogs: hot pavement.
Brick walkways, sidewalks, and asphalt can become much hotter than the air temperature. On sunny afternoons, hard surfaces can easily reach temperatures that are uncomfortable or unsafe for your dog’s paws.
A few simple tips:
🐾 Walk earlier in the morning or later in the evening
🐾 Stick to shaded paths whenever possible
🐾 Bring water for your dog (and yourself!)
🐾 Check pavement temperature before longer walks and protect those paws with
Musher’s Secret (available at the Inn)
A good rule of thumb: place the back of your hand on the pavement for several seconds. If it feels too hot for you, it’s too hot for your pup.
